Building Permits up 40% since March 2020
It seems as though people being home more due to COVID-19 related isolation means that they’re knocking things off the to-do list, as permits in CT have increased 40%, according to Hartford Business Journal and the state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD). We have noticed a steady stream of residential requests for job quotes varying from full remodels, additions, kitchen/bath, decks and patios, but commercial property owners are also taking advantage of the downtime and limited customers.
We wanted to let residential customers know, we are making every effort to proceed with project requests with consideration to your health and the health of employees. Town by town, we’re running in to various recent policy changes and building departments and town offices being closed and/or having new practices. We’ve been able to improve tracking down the appropriate people to progress projects, regardless of newer systems and red tape, and are on the top of our game to get your project needs completed in a timely manner.
Our commercial clients are also taking advantage. They have all said similar to “We expect less foot traffic during construction and lower profit capability, so while foot traffic is low for reasons outside of our control, it’s time to take advantage.” Similar to residential work, new policies and town changes have made processes somewhat more difficult, but maybe more important, financing and credit restrictions may slow your project. Be sure to stay closely in contact with any loan providers helping to finance business improvements.
